Free mobile app “CHEERS” has been developed by Eastern / Central and Western District Office, with funding support from the Tung Wah Board of Directors and Partnership Fund of Social Welfare Department, and the app was officially launched in November 2016. From January 2019, both Android and iOS versions are available for different mobile phone systems to easily use and communicate with each other.Being the first app in Tung Wah tailor made for dementia service, “CHEERS” is equipped with six major features:1. “This is me” - provides a ‘snapshot’ of the background and daily habits of elders with dementia in order to enhance the understanding of caregivers including medical or nursing staff towards the elders;2. The “GPS Tracking” - enables family members to stay connected with elders with dementia and know their whereabouts, thus supporting the needs of caregivers and elders with memory problems and cognitive impairment. Enables caregivers to set the living circle range. When the elder leaves the designated location, the caregiver will be notified;3. Medication Reminder – provides a regular and clear reminder of medication;4. Tracing Function – distributes the information of missing elders;5. Cognitive Training – provides 3 different type of cognitive training games to
enhance self-esteem among elders and delay their cognitive decline;6. Practical Life Tips - provides practical tips to set up a safe and comfortable
environment for elders with dementia, and strengthen their orientation of the home environment.
